16Jan2020 - *Being soaked in Jesus* - _Luke 14:34-35 – Bible reading: _Psalm 80:15-19_

_Luke 14:34-35 “Salt is good; but if the salt has lost its flavour, how shall it be seasoned? (35) It is neither fit for the land nor for the dunghill, but men throw it out. He who has ears to hear, let him hear!" Matthew 5:13 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men._

What is salt that our Lord is teaching us about? Salt is Jesus, Himself. Just as the light is Jesus, salt too is Jesus. Jesus has to be operational in our lives. It is the life of Jesus that is operational in us that makes us to be the salt of the earth. By Jesus being operational in us and us being the salt of the earth, God is establishing His kingdom and He is establishing His kingdom through the church.

If we are not going to be operational in Jesus, if we choose not to be soaked in Jesus, then the consequences are terrifying. _John 15:6 If anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned._

_Ezekiel 15:1-7 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying: (2) “Son of man, how is the wood of the vine better than any other wood, the vine branch which is among the trees of the forest? (3) Is wood taken from it to make any object? Or can men make a peg from it to hang any vessel on? (4) Instead, it is thrown into the fire for fuel; the fire devours both ends of it, and its middle is burned. Is it useful for any work? (5) Indeed, when it was whole, no object could be made from it. How much less will it be useful for any work when the fire has devoured it, and it is burned?_ By ourselves, we are nothing. Our life has meaning, worth and fulfillment, only when we are fully in Jesus.

_(6) "Therefore thus says the Lord GOD: 'Like the wood of the vine among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so I will give up the inhabitants of Jerusalem; (7) and I will set My face against them. They will go out from one fire, but another fire shall devour them. Then you shall know that I am the LORD, when I set My face against them._ Going from one fire and another fire devouring us, is scary, but that is what is happening in the lives of many because they are not soaked in Jesus.

_Psalm 80:15-19 And the vineyard which Your right hand has planted, And the branch that You made strong for Yourself. (16) It is burned with fire, it is cut down; They perish at the rebuke of Your countenance. (17) Let Your hand be upon the man of Your right hand, Upon the son of man whom You made strong for Yourself._ The son of man is the one, God has made strong on our behalf, that we will return to Jesus.

_(18) Then we will not turn back from You; Revive us, and we will call upon Your name. (19) Restore us, O LORD God of hosts; Cause Your face to shine, And we shall be saved!_

God has made all the provision for us to be rich and fruit bearing, when we are in Jesus. What foolishness that we yet choose to reject Jesus and keep Him at a distance. _Hebrews 6:7-8 For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God; (8) but if it bears thorns and briers, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned._

*Thought to ponder*
