23Feb2020 - *Remain in the household of God* - _Luke 15:11-32_ - Bible reading: _John 12:23-24_

_Luke 15:18-19 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, (19) and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."_

Praise God that the process of repentance was beginning for the younger son. The first step that was happening was that the turnaround was taking place. “I will arise and go…” - This is where the dethroning of the self is taking place.

_John 12:23-24 But Jesus answered them, saying, "The hour has come that the Son of Man should be glorified. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain._ Jesus was being glorified, when He went to cross and died. This was the Father’s plan and Jesus submitted fully to His Father’s desire, died on the cross and was thus being glorified. This was how He lived out His sonship.

For us to live out our position as sons and daughters of God, the self must die with Christ. _II Corinthians 5:15 and He died for all, that those who live should live *no longer for themselves*, but for Him who died for them and rose again._

_Galatians 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me._ Jesus loved us and gave Himself for us. How can we love Him back? It is in being crucified with Christ. To no longer we who live, but Christ, who lives in us. This is what it is to be in family of God. The younger son, went away from his family and was beginning the process of returning back. This process begins with denying the self.

_Jeremiah 50:4-5 “In those days and in that time," says the LORD, "The children of Israel shall come, They and the children of Judah together; With continual weeping they shall come, And seek the LORD their God. (5) They shall ask the way to Zion, With their faces toward it, saying, 'Come and let us join ourselves to the LORD In a perpetual covenant That will not be forgotten.'_

*Thought to ponder*

```Let us always remain in the household of God, seeking His ways and not ours.```
