Luke 15 11-32 To seek and the save the lost - The prodigal son 13 To My father
24Feb2020 - *To My father* - _Luke 15:11-32_ - Bible reading: _Galatians 4:4-7_
_Luke 15:18-19 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, (19) and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."_
Praise God that the process of repentance was beginning for the younger son. The first step that was happening was the dethroning of the self. He said, “I will arise and go…” He had earlier made his decision to leave but now the self was being denied.
The next beautiful step in the turnaround process was that he said, “…my father,…’”. Remember, when he had claimed his portion of the inheritance from his father, he had actually told his father, “I have no relationship with you anymore. You are dead for me, as far as I’m concerned”. Yet now, he was, in his heart, acknowledging his father and saying, ‘my father’.
God will always remain Father to us. Even if we reject Him as Father, He will not reject us but He waits for us to acknowledge Him as, ‘my Father’.
_Matthew 6:9 In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name._ This is how the Lord taught us to pray, by beginning with addressing Him as, “Our Father…”
This is what Jesus told Mary after His resurrection. _John 20:17 Jesus said to her, "Do not cling to Me, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I am ascending to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.' "_ He has brought us back into the family, the household of God, and we, along with Jesus, can call Him as our Father.
_Romans 8:15 For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."_ When we come to Christ, we receive His Holy Spirit, by whom we are able to call God as, “Abba”. When we call Him, ‘Abba’, we are acknowledging our relationship with Him and also surrendering to His authority over us. To come into the family of God, submission of our will is necessary.
_Galatians 4:4-7 But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, (5) to redeem those who were under the law, that we might receive the adoption as sons. (6) And because you are sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying out, "Abba, Father!" (7) Therefore you are no longer a slave but a son, and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ._
God has redeemed us in order that we will once again be His sons and daughters. The Holy Spirit within us, whom we receive, when we return to Him, cements our relationship into the family of God. We are no longer a slave but a son.
The younger son, did not realise this but the moment, in his heart, he said, “My father”, he was automatically reinstated back into full status of sonship. All that is needed is for man to repent and turn back to God. He is received back fully into the family of God, not in a step by step process but right away, into the full position of a son and a daughter of God. Isn’t this awesome?
*Thought to ponder*
```What a wonderful message we have, which we must share to a world that is still rejecting and doubting if God will ever accept them back into His household.```
