Luke 18 35-43 THE FAITH OF BARTIMAEUS 11 The synergy of God’s word and our faith

📖 Luke 18:35-43
9th Mar 26 | 13:18

10Nov2020 - *The synergy of God’s word and our faith* - _Luke 18:35-43_ - THE FAITH OF BARTIMAEUS 11 – Bible reading: _II Corinthians 4:6-7_

Praise the Lord, Bartimaeus, who was internally sighted, now received his physical sight.

_Luke 18:41-43 saying, "What do you want Me to do for you?" He said, "Lord, that I may receive my sight." (42) Then Jesus said to him, "Receive your sight; your faith has made you well." (43) And immediately he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God._

The Lord spoke, _"Receive your sight …”_ and immediately Bartimaeus received his sight. We have discussed the matter of God’s word, earlier, but here we are witnessing the power of God’s word once again.

_Psalm 33:8-9 Let all the earth fear the LORD; Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him. (9) *For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast*. Psalm 107:19-20 Then they cried out to the LORD in their trouble, And He saved them out of their distresses. (20) *He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions*._

_Hebrews 11:3 By faith we understand that *the worlds were framed by the word of God*, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible._

God is the creator and everything that was created was created from nothing but only His word.

Though this is the awesomeness of His word, yet God, who is the word, tells Bartimaeus, _” …your faith has made you well."_ and immediately Bartimaeus received his sight.

Do we see the magnitude of the principle that is at play here? *God’s word synergised with our faith in Him*. This is the basis of Christian life. It is God’s word applied and lived out by our faith in Him.

We are here to constantly live out His word by faith and this is the work of the Holy Spirit in us, as we cannot make this into a reality by our own effort.

_II Corinthians 4:6-7 For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. (7) But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us._

We are just vessels of clay but the excellence of the power is of God. He operates in and through us, by our faith in Him, which we exercise by the empowerment of His Holy Spirit. The light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ shines through us, earthen vessels.

_Philippians 2:12-13 …, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling; (13) for it is God who works in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure._

Bartimaeus had an awesome experience that day. A deep truth was planted into his heart. It was God’s word synergised with his faith. He would never let this principle go. He had heard His command, he had thrown away his shackles, gotten up, come to Jesus and had received his sight.

He knew that it was surely Jesus’ word that had given him healing but he also knew that his faith had a part to play too. This powerful principle was registered into the heart of Bartimaeus.

Will we also open our hearts and appropriate this powerful life principle, of God’s word synergised with our faith, to be registered there?

*Thought to ponder*

```Often God’s word is rendered powerless in us because it did not synergise with our faith.```
