Luke 15 11-32 To seek and the save the lost - The prodigal son 15 Unworthy
26Feb2020 - *Unworthy* - _Luke 15:11-32_ - Bible reading: _Jeremiah 32:21-23_
_Luke 15:18-19 I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, "Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you, (19) and I am no longer worthy to be called your son. Make me like one of your hired servants."_
Praise God that the process of repentance was happening for the younger son. The first step was the dethroning of the self. He had earlier made his decision to leave his father but now the self was being denied and he said, “I will arise and go…”. The next beautiful step was that he said, “…my father…’”. He was acknowledging and coming back to a relationship of a son, which he had cast aside. The third step was that within the relationship with his father, he confessed that he had caused pain to his father. In causing pain to his father, he also acknowledged that it was sin against God.
Though in his heart he was returning to his father, in his mind, he was convinced that he had no more rights to anything. He had already claimed his inheritance. He thought that since he had no right to anything, but because he had a relationship with his father, he could request his father to hire him, on a daily basis. In his mind, he was thinking, “I can ask this much from *my father*”. (The regular servants had privileges but the hired servants had none).
What his father would do for him is something else, but all of us need to reach this point of unworthiness in our turnaround process. This is the place where we need to remain, in our relationship with God. The name of this place is *Grace*.
_Luke 5:8 When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, "Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!"_ When Peter saw the catch of fish, he buckled before Jesus. When we know who our God is to us, it must cause us to fall at His feet and keep falling repeatedly at His feet.
_Ezra 9:9-10 For we were slaves. Yet our God did not forsake us in our bondage; but He extended mercy to us in the sight of the kings of Persia, to revive us, to repair the house of our God, to rebuild its ruins, and to give us a wall in Judah and Jerusalem. (10) And now, O our God, what shall we say after this? For we have forsaken Your commandments,_
_Daniel 9:15 And now, O Lord our God, who brought Your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and made Yourself a name, as it is this day—we have sinned, we have done wickedly!_
_Jeremiah 32:21-23 You have brought Your people Israel out of the land of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and an outstretched arm, and with great terror; (22) You have given them this land, of which You swore to their fathers to give them— "a land flowing with milk and honey." (23) And they came in and took possession of it, but they have not obeyed Your voice or walked in Your law. They have done nothing of all that You commanded them to do; therefore You have caused all this calamity to come upon them._
*Thought to ponder*
```Are you operating out of His grace?```
