01 – 05Apr2023 – *Jesus is accomplishing His work* - _Acts 05:12-16_ - MIRACLES, SIGNS AND WONDERS IN HIS CHURCH - Bible reading: _Hebrews 02:02-04_

“Lord Jesus, we give ourselves to You. You are burdening us to reach people and bring them to faith in You. As we do so, we expect signs to take place. In Your name, we pray. Amen.”

_Acts 5:12 And *through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people*. And they were all with one accord in Solomon's Porch._

From the beginning of the early church, many wonders and signs took place through the apostles. _Acts 2:43 Then fear came upon every soul, and *many wonders and signs were done through the apostles*._

This was the prayer of the church that signs and wonders would take place when the church would stretch the hand of Jesus to heal. *_Acts 4:30 by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus."_*

It is the hand of Jesus that heals and it is through His name that wonders take place. We are only those who stretch our hands, as His church, but as we do so, *we are conscious that it is the hand of Jesus that works through us to bring about healing*. It is the name of Jesus that is glorified as healings take place.

The healing, signs and wonders were a testimony that Jesus had risen from the dead. *_Acts 4:33 And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all._*

As His church, we must be fully conscious that since Jesus has risen from the dead, He is working in us and He is working through us. It is the resurrected Jesus, who is restoring all things to Himself, so that man and creation will once again come into His Shalom.

It was God’s grace which was manifest. It was clear that all that was happening was not about the Apostles but was the manifestation of God’s grace.

Signs and wonders bear witness to the salvation of God. God longs for us to receive His salvation. Man cannot take the salvation of God, lightly. God was bearing witness to His salvation with signs and wonders.

_Hebrews 2:2-4 For if the word spoken through angels proved steadfast, and every transgression and disobedience received a just reward, (3) *how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard Him, (4) God also bearing witness both with signs and wonders, with various miracles, and gifts of the Holy Spirit, according to His own will?*_

Consider the graciousness of God that because He longs for us not to forfeit His salvation, He confirms the same through signs. This is the will of God. Therefore, when we share the gospel and bring people to faith in Jesus, we must expect signs and wonders to follow, because God is bearing witness to His salvation to man and His creation.

Apostle Paul understood this principle very well and he explains his ministry as he writes to the Romans. _Romans 15:15-18 Nevertheless, brethren, I have written more boldly to you on some points, as reminding you, because of the grace given to me by God, (16) *that I might be a minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit. (17) Therefore I have reason to glory in Christ Jesus in the things which pertain to God. (18) For I will not dare to speak of any of those things which Christ has not accomplished through me, in word and deed, to make the Gentiles obedient*—_

God had called Paul to be a minister to the Gentiles. As he reached the Gentiles to bring them from darkness to light, from the power of Satan to God, so as to be recipients of God’s inheritance, there were signs and wonders that took place.

God is always reaching people and bringing them from all their bondages to the liberty of Christ. Not only are people being brought to freedom, but they are also being sanctified to be an offering to God. God must be glorified in the lives of people. It is in this process of bringing people to this destination in Christ that signs and wonders take place.

God is longing for us to come into His habitat. He is our reward. We are complete in Him. *_Colossians 2:9-10 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; (10) and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power._*

We also know that the Lord loves each of us individually and He does miracles and signs in our lives. Jesus did miracles in the lives of individuals and it was the same with the Apostles.

```As His church, let us be part of this process that as we minister to people and lead them to faith in Jesus, signs, miracles and wonders will take place, for it is Jesus who is being glorified.```
