*FRIEND OF GOD*

05Jun2021 - *He who calls on the name of Jesus will be saved* - _Luke 21:25-28_ - WATCH AND PRAY IV (01) - _John 3:16-21_

At the end of the age, there will be frightening signs in the heavens. Sights, sounds and terrifying events that we have never witnessed so far. These are terrible signs that are to happen on the earth.

These are all intended for men to somehow, in their fear and perplexity, turn to God, call on the name of Jesus and be saved from the place of eternal torment prepared primarily for the devil and his angels.

These are all shown to us now so that we will apply our heart to wisdom and we will use the little time that is left for us, here on earth, to serve Him.

The final act of the end of the age is what the Lord is showing us here. This is when the Lord returns and brings this age to a close and we will then be ushered into the new age.

_Luke 21:25-26 “And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; (26) men's hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken._

_Matthew 24:29-31 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light; the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. (30) Then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in heaven, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and *they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory*. (31) And He will send His angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other._

Peter gave this message in Acts chapter two. Peter is referring to the prophet Joel in _Acts 2:16-21_. The purpose of Peter to refer to prophet Joel was to inform his audience of the signs in the heavens and the purpose of the signs was the desperate plea of God that people will call on the name of Jesus and be saved.

_Acts 2:21 AND IT SHALL COME TO PASS THAT WHOEVER CALLS ON THE NAME OF THE LORD SHALL BE SAVED.'_

What was the prophecy of Joel regarding the signs and wonders in the heavens?

_Joel 2:30-32 “And I will show wonders in the heavens and in the earth: Blood and fire and pillars of smoke. (31) The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD. (32) And it shall come to pass *That whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved*. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, Among the remnant whom the LORD calls._

What is the Lord communicating to us and seeking to reveal to us through the signs in nature?

*The primary purpose, the heart concern of God is that whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved*. He does not want anyone to perish (The lake of eternal torment) and look at all that He is doing to get the attention of man, who is so rigid and undeterred and determined to go on, in his own way, but not to surrender to Jesus.

_Joh 3:16-21 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him *should not perish* but have everlasting life._

The love of God for man is what is making God do all of these acts in nature to get shake man up, to repent and believe in Him. Why does God want man to believe in Him? God does not want man to perish in the lake of fire, which is the lake of eternal torment.

There is no other way for man to escape the final place of eternal torment, *only Jesus*. Believing in Jesus alone is the way by which man can come to eternal life and escape the place of eternal torment.

_(17) For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved._

He did not send Jesus into the world to condemn the world but provide the solution for man to come to Him and escape the lake of fire. *There is salvation in no other name*.

_Acts 4:10-12 let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that *by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth*, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole. (11) This is the 'STONE WHICH WAS REJECTED BY YOU BUILDERS, WHICH HAS BECOME THE CHIEF CORNERSTONE.' (12) *Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved*."_

There is no option for compromise here. *Salvation is only by one name and that is the name of Jesus*.

_(18) "He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God._

If a person does not believe in Jesus, he or she is condemned already.

_(19) And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. (20) For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed._

People are not wanting to come to Jesus, not because they do not accept Jesus as the Saviour of the world but people love darkness and do not want to come to the light.

_(21) But *he who does the truth comes to the light*, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God."_

If there are people who are genuinely seeking and wanting to do the truth, the Lord will make it possible for them to come to the light of Jesus and be saved.

*Thought to ponder*

```Oh! The unfathomable love of God that does not want even one sinner to perish but each man must reach out and grab the hand that is extended out to save him.```
