Lights of our world _Luke 11:33-36_

We now start a new series of messages on the passage from _Luke 11:33-36._ This is about us being God’s lights in our dark world.

A light that is lit is not kept under a basket but on a lamp stand so that it gives light to all, who are in the house. The same idea is given in _Luke 8:16-18._ Here, our Lord teaches about the light along with His teaching on the parable of the Sower and the seed. _What must we understand?_

The seed of God’s word must germinate in our heart, take root and bear fruit in our lives. Bearing fruit is about being a blessing to others around us. Being a blessing to others is also about being a light to our surrounding circle of influence.

Our life will be judged on how much of fruit we bore or how much of a light we have been, after receiving God’s word into our lives _Matthew 7:19/3:10/John 15:2._ To the one, who is bearing fruit by living out the word of God, more understanding will be given and this person’s circle of being a light will expand but the one, who is not being a light, even what this person has will be taken away _Luke 8:16-18._

God wants us to share what we have heard and understood from the Lord and from His word to all, whom God brings into our circle of influence. We must speak, share, explain and demonstrate out loud, God’s message to our world. This is the reason, why God has kept us here in our world _Matthew 10:27._

We are called to be the light of our world. We are a city set on a hill. This implies that us being the light of Jesus is both individually as well as corporately, as the church of Jesus Christ. Each of us affects the light of the other and of the church as a whole. We have no option to say, “My life is my concern and others need not be bothered.” When any of us is not being the light of Jesus, the message of the church of Jesus, as the light of the world, is affected. On the other hand, if we are being the light, then the world will see our good works and glorify our Father in heaven _Matthew 5:14-16._

*Thought to ponder*

```If there is darkness around us, in our circle of influence, it is our fault and we must accept the blame.```
