02 Acts 14 08-20 THE MINISTRY AT LYSTRA 01 Acts 14 08-10 The Gospel of His kingdom
01 – Wed, 22 Oct 2025 – *The Gospel of His kingdom*- _Acts 14:08-20_ – THE MINISTRY AT LYSTRA – _Luke 04:43_
_Acts14:8-10 And in Lystra a certain man without strength in his feet was sitting, a cripple from his mother's womb, who had never walked. (9) This man heard Paul speaking. Paul, observing him intently and seeing that he had faith to be healed, (10) said with a loud voice, "Stand up straight on your feet!" And he leaped and walked._
Paul and Barnabas were preaching the Gospel of God’s kingdom in Lystra.
_Matthew 9:35-38 Then Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, *preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people*. (36) But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. (37) Then He said to His disciples, "The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. (38) Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest."_
The Gospel of God’s kingdom includes healing the sick and every disease among the people. This is because *the Gospel of His kingdom is all about life in all its fullness*. The thief has cheated and robbed us of life, but Jesus has come to give life in all its fullness. _John 10:10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly._
The Lord was bringing people into His kingdom and into life in all its fullness. _Matthew 4:23-25 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, *preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease among the people*. (24) Then His fame went throughout all Syria; and they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon-possessed, epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. (25) Great multitudes followed Him—from Galilee, and from Decapolis, Jerusalem, Judea, and beyond the Jordan._
Great multitudes followed him because this is what people are looking for. People are desperate and broken. The Lord saw them weary and scattered as sheep without a shepherd. The devil has trapped people in his web of lies. Man is also gripped by the law of sin and death. This has left us in a state of death and decay, where we are all languishing without hope.
The Gospel brings people back from death to life. _II Timothy 1:10 but has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, *who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel*,_
This is what the Lord told the disciples of John the Baptist. Matthew 11:4-6 Jesus answered and said to them, "Go and tell John the things which you hear and see: (5) The blind see and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed and the deaf hear; the dead are raised up and the poor have the gospel preached to them. (6) And blessed is he who is not offended because of Me."_
This Gospel, which brings people back from death to fullness of life, is what Paul and Barnabas were preaching at Lystra. There was this man in Lystra, who was crippled from birth and had never walked. This man was listening to Paul preaching the Gospel of God’s kingdom, where people come into fullness of life. Somehow, the words of Paul convinced this lame man. God was working in the heart of this man, and this man began to see hope from the message that Paul preached.
We hear the Gospel, but we are in the place of despondency and gloom. We like to hear the message of the Gospel of His kingdom, but we decide to look at our circumstances, and there seems to be a finality to our predicament. We have decided that there is no way out of our dilemma.
We respond to Jesus like this man who was sick for 38 years. _John 5:7 The sick man answered Him, "Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me."_
His crisis was real. What he had seen over the years was only hopelessness. Isn’t this the place where many of us are? We are weary and scattered. We are filled with gloom and hopelessness, and we have decided that this is our portion of life.
The Lord wants us to turn and see the Gospel of His kingdom, where there is fullness of life. We all know that not all were healed of their sickness at the pool of Bethsaida except this one man. Yet, when we turn and receive the Gospel, we have fullness of life, though our sickness or crisis may remain.
*Fullness of life is in the presence of the Lord, not in the absence of hardship.* _Psalm 16:11 You will show me the path of life; *In Your presence is fullness of joy;* At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore._
Nothing can take us away from the Gospel of His kingdom. _Romans 8:38-39 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, (39) nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord._
```This Gospel of His kingdom is what we preach.```
