08Mar2020 - *Strengthened for the gospel of peace* - _Luke 15:11-32_ - Bible reading: _Isaiah 49:5-6_

_Luke 15:22-24 “But the father said to his servants, 'Bring out the best robe and put it on him, and put a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. (23) And bring the fatted calf here and kill it, and let us eat and be merry; (24) for this my son was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' And they began to be merry._

The son had returned home and the father was lavishing his grace on him. There were three items that the son received. He received the best robe, a ring on his hand and sandals on his feet. We have considered the best robe. Yesterday, we understood about the ring on his hand. Today we will look at the meaning of the sandals on his feet.

Sandals on his feet represent two of several inheritances that we receive as children of God, who have returned to our Father. The first blessing is strength. _Deuteronomy 33:25 Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be._ *Strengthened to do His work*. _Psalm 18:33 He makes my feet like the feet of deer, And sets me on my high places._

_Isaiah 49:5-6 "And now the LORD says, Who formed Me from the womb to be His Servant, To bring Jacob back to Him, So that Israel is gathered to Him (For I shall be glorious in the eyes of the LORD, And My God shall be My strength), (6) Indeed He says, 'It is too small a thing that You should be My Servant To raise up the tribes of Jacob, And to restore the preserved ones of Israel; I will also give You as a light to the Gentiles, That You should be My salvation to the ends of the earth.' "_ Though this prophesy is of Jesus, it applies to us as the church. We saw yesterday that we are the fullness of Jesus, who fill us.

_Luke 1:79 To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, To guide our feet into the way of peace."_ This is the prophesy of John the Baptist, for his role. This is the task for all of us too, as His church.

This is the second blessing, which is to fulfil the task of our Father. _Ephesians 6:15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;_ Our task is to bring the good news of peace, through the Prince of peace, Jesus. Peace is the Shalom of God.

We are sent into a world, where satan is ruling and causing chaos, disintegration, separation and dissension, all of which is the opposite of Shalom, which is harmony, balance and integration. _Romans 16:20 And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen._

We are sons of God to be Shalom creators. _Matthew 5:9 Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God. Romans 10:15 And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: "HOW BEAUTIFUL ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO PREACH THE GOSPEL OF PEACE, WHO BRING GLAD TIDINGS OF GOOD THINGS!"_

*Thought to ponder*

```Are you fulfilling your task as the child of God?```
