Luke 21 25-28 WATCH AND PRAY IV 03 Luke 21 27 Jesus is the Lord of heaven and earth
*FRIEND OF GOD*
07Jun2021 - *Jesus is the Lord of heaven and earth* - _Luke 21:25-28_ - WATCH AND PRAY IV (03) – Bible reading: _Acts 7:55-56_
The Lord Jesus has made it possible for everyone, who with a sincere heart and mind, seeks Him, to find Him and know Him. He has not given any room for anyone to give an excuse saying that he or she did not know about Jesus. *All that is needed is for people to be sincere in their search for truth*.
Yet, down through the ages, people have ignored Him, rejected and have not submitted their lives to Christ. This is because man chooses to remain in darkness and does not want to come to the light.
While Jesus was here on earth, He demonstrated, manifested and displayed His glory that He was the almighty God. All those who encountered Jesus knew that He was the Messiah, the Son of God.
This is man’s terrible condition that because of the hardness of our hearts, we have refused Jesus and have not surrendered to His lordship over us.
_Luke 21:27 Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with *power and great glory*._
This is the picture that as He lived here on earth, men witnessed His glory. People knew that He was the King, the Messiah, The Son of God.
_John 1:49-51 Nathanael answered and said to Him, "*Rabbi, You are the Son of God! You are the King of Israel*!" (50) Jesus answered and said to him, "Because I said to you, 'I saw you under the fig tree,' do you believe? You will see greater things than these." (51) And He said to him, "Most assuredly, I say to you, *hereafter you shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man*."_
Here we see Nathanael acknowledging Jesus as the Son of God and the King of Israel.
_John 14:7-10 “If you had known Me, you would have known My Father also; and from now on you know Him and have seen Him." (8) Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us." (9) Jesus said to him, "Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? *He who has seen Me has seen the Father*; so how can you say, 'Show us the Father'? (10) Do you not believe that *I am in the Father, and the Father in Me*? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works._
Here again, we see the Lord, clearly revealing to His disciples, His identity as God almighty.
Nevertheless, the religious leaders, who should have welcomed Him and led the way in worshipping Him as Lord, were the ones who opposed Him, vehemently. Claiming to be God’s representatives, they were instruments of the devil.
Jesus did not spare the religious leaders but rebuked them openly.
There are some who claim that Jesus never claimed or acknowledged that He is the Son of God or the ‘I am’.
At the trial of Jesus, when He was being questioned by the religious leaders, we see His response and His affirmation of who He was.
_Matthew 26:63-64 But Jesus kept silent. And the high priest answered and said to Him, "I put You under oath by the living God: *Tell us if You are the Christ, the Son of God*!" (64) Jesus said to him, "*It is as you said*. Nevertheless, I say to you, hereafter *you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven*."_
_Mark 14:61-62 But He kept silent and answered nothing. Again the high priest asked Him, saying to Him, "*Are You the Christ, the Son of the Blessed*?" (62) Jesus said, "*I am. And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming with the clouds of heaven*."_
_Luke 22:70 Then they all said, "*Are You then the Son of God*?" So He said to them, "*You rightly say that I am*."_
Though Jesus has revealed Himself as God yet man has refused to accept Him. This is because of our pride and we do not want to surrender to the authority of God over us.
Pilate, the Roman governor, too had the opportunity to know that He was the King and He too could have worshipped Him, instead he had Jesus crucified.
_John 18:33-37 Then Pilate entered the Praetorium again, called Jesus, and said to Him, "Are You the King of the Jews?" (34) Jesus answered him, "Are you speaking for yourself about this, or did others tell you this concerning Me?" (35) Pilate answered, "Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered You to me. What have You done?" (36) Jesus answered, "My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here." (37) Pilate therefore said to Him, "Are You a king then?" Jesus answered, "*You say rightly that I am a king*. For this cause I was born, and for this cause *I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice*."_
Down through the ages, men everywhere have known Jesus as the God of heaven and earth, who must be worshipped.
_Acts 7:55-56 But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God, (56) and said, "Look! *I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God*!"_
People everywhere need to acknowledge *Jesus as the Lord of heaven and earth* and submit to Him.
If people do not do so now, then on that day of His return, they will see Jesus coming in power and great glory but will not have the opportunity to repent.
*Thought to ponder*
```What a day that will be, when my Jesus I shall see.```
