*FRIEND OF GOD*

12Jun2021 - *The redemption of the Lord draws near* - _Luke 21:25-28_ - WATCH AND PRAY IV (08) – Bible reading: _Psalm 96:10-13_

As we look forward to the return of the Lord and the judgment that is to take place. We do not look forward with fear and dread *but with joy and anticipation*. Our redemption draws near.

We will be spending eternity with our King and so we are excited about the return of our Lord Jesus.

_Luke 21:28 Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near."_

We look up and we lift up our heads for our redemption has come.

_Psalm 98:4-9 Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises. (5) Sing to the LORD with the harp, With the harp and the sound of a psalm, (6) With trumpets and the sound of a horn; Shout joyfully before the LORD, the King. (7) Let the sea roar, and all its fullness, The world and those who dwell in it; (8) Let the rivers clap their hands; Let the hills be joyful together before the LORD, (9) *For He is coming to judge the earth. With righteousness He shall judge the world, And the peoples with equity*._

We have a crucial message to speak and share with the whole world about the whole of creation. The above passage has so much reference to the rejoicing of creation.

The message that we share with the world is triumphant. The judgment of God will be righteous and impartial. Those who love and are waiting for His appearing, (with readiness in His righteousness), will be excited and thrilled.

This current creation is moving out and the Lord is preparing an entirely new creation. The beautiful and wonderful, new creation is beyond our minds to grasp. We can surely celebrate.

_Romans 8:19-22 For *the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God*. (20) For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of Him who subjected it in hope; (21) because *the creation itself also will be delivered from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God*. (22) For we know that the whole creation groans and labors with birth pangs together until now._

This is the message that we share with the world that creation will be redeemed. Right now, creation is in the bondage of corruption along with man. When man experiences his full redemption at the coming of the Lord, creation too, along with man, will be redeemed to its new state.

_Psalm 96:10-13 *Say among the nations, "The LORD reigns*; The world also is firmly established, It shall not be moved; He shall judge the peoples righteously." (11) Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; Let the sea roar, and all its fullness; (12) Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the LORD. (13) *For He is coming, for He is coming to judge the earth. He shall judge the world with righteousness, And the peoples with His truth*._

We have a message to the nations that the Lord reigns. People think that God has lost control over our world. That is not true. The Lord reigns and He has everything in His control.

We know that the terrible things that are happening in our world today are man’s creation since we rebelled against God but God is sovereign and He is in control. He is moving all things according to His time schedule.

_II Peter 3:5-9 For this they willfully forget: that *by the word of God the heavens were of old*, and the earth standing out of water and in the water, (6) *by which the world that then existed perished*, being flooded with water. (7) *But the heavens and the earth which are now preserved by the same word, are reserved for fire until the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men*. (8) But, beloved, do not forget this one thing, that with the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. (9) The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, *not willing that any should perish* but that all should come to repentance._

He is holding all things by the word of His power.

The church seems to be full of despondency, just as the world around us, but we need to turn our message to the world to that of victory.

Here we see an example of Apostle Paul speaking to the people of Athens, a pagan audience.

_Acts 17:24-31 *God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth*, does not dwell in temples made with hands. (25) Nor is He worshiped with men's hands, as though He needed anything, since *He gives to all life, breath, and all things*. (26) And *He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth*, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, (27) so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us; (28) *for in Him we live and move and have our being*, as also some of your own poets have said, 'For we are also His offspring.' (29) Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man's devising. (30) Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, *but now commands all men everywhere to repent*, (31) because *He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained*. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead."_

This is the message that we share with the world without hesitancy.

The world must know that if they do not repent, they are treasuring up for themselves the wrath of God. _Romans 2:5 But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God,_

*Thought to ponder*
