_Luke 15:31-32 “And he said to him, 'Son, you are always with me, and all that I have is yours. (32) It was right that we should make merry and be glad, for your brother was dead and is alive again, and was lost and is found.' "_
Yesterday, we saw five specific issues with the elder brother and we said, we have the elder brother in us. The elder brother was not in tune with the pain of his father’s heart that the son, who was lost must be found. Yes, he did his duties in the house but the pain of his father’s heart was not his. He was doing things in order to get his father’s blessings.
Imagine the owner of a very large conglomerate. He has children and his desire for them is that they grow up quickly, participate and shoulder responsibility with him in developing his empire. The children instead of growing up to handle their father’s responsibility are busy fighting amongst themselves, keep going to the father to solve their squabbles, wanting their Dad to give them different toys and gadgets to play with and keep asking their father to wash them up and bandage their injuries when they get hurt. How do you think the father would feel about his children? Would He not be sad about his children? He would be longing for them to realise that he has and will always look after them but he desires for them to be his co-rulers, in his enterprise.
Do you see the analogy? Isn’t this the sad state of the church? If we say, we are disciples of Christ, then we will not keep going to our heavenly Father to solve our petty problems. Instead, we will go to him, to listen, to discuss, to understand, His concerns and then receive from Him, specific assignments that we need to be doing in completing the work of His kingdom. We will love one another in the family of God and we will all realise that we are not in competition but we are children of the King and He assigns for us different roles and responsibilities, within His kingdom. *His concern is that the lost be found and that the whole of creation is restored to Him*. We will all be one, supporting and facilitating one another, as children of our Father, in completing our Father’s concern. We will all operate out of this understanding that we have been sent to different places, where the lost are so that they be found.
To those to whom much is given, much will be required. _Luke 12:47-48 And that servant who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. (48) But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more._
*Thought to ponder*
```Let us not be left standing outside the house. Let us repent, seek His forgiveness, come in and take our place as His co-workers and co-rulers.```
