11 – 05Mar2022 – The Aha moments of life - Luke 24:01-08 - JESUS HAS RISEN - Bible reading: Luke 24:29-35
“Lord Jesus, thank You that You are always making Yourself known to us. You are wanting us to have those Aha moments. Teach us Lord to keep our eyes on You, with anticipation and expectation. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.”
Luke 24:7-8 saying, 'The Son of Man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.' " (8) And they remembered His words.
The women were having a ‘Aha moment’. This happened as the angels made known to their understanding the words of Jesus and that He has risen.
Till this moment, the women were shocked with the fact that the stone was rolled away, the guards were like dead men, the body of the Lord was missing and these two angels were telling them that He had risen.
Suddenly, the words of the Lord registered to their understanding and it all fell into place. JESUS HAS RISEN. Everything was now gloriously different and new.
As we encounter trying circumstances in life, we must expect the Lord to bring to our understanding the fact that He has risen and He is being made known to us.
This was what happened with the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. We have been referring to them being forlorn and dejected, even after knowing that the Lord had risen. Nothing was making sense but now they were having the Aha moment of their lives.
Luke 24:29-35 But they constrained Him, saying, "Abide with us, for it is toward evening, and the day is far spent." And He went in to stay with them. (30) Now it came to pass, as He sat at the table with them, that He took bread, blessed and broke it, and gave it to them. (31) Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him; and He vanished from their sight. (32) And they said to one another, " Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us ?" (33) So they rose up that very hour and returned to Jerusalem, and found the eleven and those who were with them gathered together, (34) saying, "The Lord is risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!" (35) And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was known to them in the breaking of bread.
Jesus made Himself known to the disciples as He broke the bread. (John 6:35 And Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.)
God’s word is Jesus and so when the word of God is broken for us, to our understanding, Jesus makes Himself known to us as the risen Lord.
The two disciples had their Aha moment. They could not contain themselves. They returned to Jerusalem that very same time, to tell the others of how the Lord had made Himself known to them.
The Lord made Himself known to all the disciples that He is the risen Lord.
Luke 24:44-45 Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me." (45) And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.
The bread, the word of God, was being broken to all the disciples and they were having a Aha moment of understanding and knowing Him as the risen Lord.
John 14:25-26 "These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. (26) But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.
We can anticipate and expect revelations and insights that the Holy Spirit will give to us as we go through life with the risen Lord.
Here are a couple of examples of how the Holy Spirit brought about Aha moments of scripture to His people.
John 2:19-22 Jesus answered and said to them, "Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up." (20) Then the Jews said, "It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?" (21) But He was speaking of the temple of His body. (22) Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.
The Holy Spirit enabled the disciples to make the connection and they had a Aha moment of knowing the risen Lord.
Here is another example, of a Aha moment in the matter of giving.
Acts 20:33-35 I have coveted no one's silver or gold or apparel. (34) Yes, you yourselves know that these hands have provided for my necessities, and for those who were with me. (35) I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, 'It is more blessed to give than to receive .' "
We don’t see this exact phrase, in the Gospels, as having been spoken by our Lord but the message resonates with Him.
Matthew 10:8 Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.
All through life, the word is broken for us. It is then that we have a Aha moment. Jesus is made known to us as the risen Lord.
Thought to ponder
Are you enjoying your Aha moments with the risen Lord?
