Luke 20 41-47 Christ, the Son of David 11 Luke 20 45-47 God’s work done His way
19Apr2021 - *God’s work done His way* - _Luke 20:41-47_ - CHRIST, THE SON OF DAVID (11) – Bible reading: _Luke 12:42-43_
God has called us to be kings and priests in the lineage of David. We ought to live our lives in such a way that we do not become enemies of God. We have looked at several reasons how we can become enemies of God and we have seen how we need to take precautions against these pitfalls.
We will now move on to the next paragraph in this study. In this kingdom relationship that we are in with Jesus, we must be free from the leaven of the Pharisees, which is explained in this passage.
_Luke 20:45-47 Then, in the hearing of all the people, He said to His disciples, (46) “Beware of the scribes, who desire to go around in long robes, love greetings in the marketplaces, the best seats in the synagogues, and the best places at feasts, (47) who devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. *These will receive greater condemnation*."_
_Luke 12:1 In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, "*Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy*._
God wants us to be genuine in fulfilling the task that has been given to us as priests and kings in the lineage of David. We should not fall into the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. If we do so, we will receive greater condemnation.
We must be soaked to our core in the task that has been entrusted to us, to be genuine in our mission of being priests and kings in the lineage of David, The substance of our life has to be in the fulfilment of the work entrusted to us, without falling into the leaven of the Pharisees.
When we know our Master’s task for us but do not fulfil it in the way His work is expected to be accomplished, then we will receive the greater punishment. This is the warning for us.
_Luke 12:47-48 And that servant *who knew his master's will, and did not prepare himself or do according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes*. (48) But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. *For everyone to whom much is given, from him much will be required*; and to whom much has been committed, of him they will ask the more._
Friends, to us, much has been given and much has been committed, for we have been made as priests and kings in the lineage of David. There is much work and much responsibility that has been entrusted to us.
We see how Apostle Paul and the team, executed the task that was entrusted to them and did not fall into the trap of the leaven of the Pharisees. Let us garner some lessons here and apply those lessons into our lives, as priests and kings for our God.
_I Thessalonians 2:3-4 For our exhortation did not come from error or uncleanness, nor was it in deceit. (4) But as we have been approved by God *to be entrusted with the gospel*, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God who tests our hearts._
They did their ministry in such a way that it was pleasing God and they ensured that they did not fall into the leaven of the Pharisees.
They saw themselves *as trustees of the gospel*. It was their responsibility to correctly feed the people with the word of God. They had to ensure that there was no error, uncleanness or deceit in their teaching. They were also always ensuring that they were not pleasing people but they were pleasing God.
Their task was to build up the people of God with the food of His word so as to make people mature in Christ.
_Luke 12:42-43 And the Lord said, "Who then is that faithful and wise steward, whom his master will make ruler over his household, *to give them their portion of food in due season*? (43) Blessed is that servant whom his master will find so doing when he comes._
We see here the aim of Apostle Paul in ministry. _Colossians 1:28-29 *Him we preach*, warning every man and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may *present every man perfect in Christ Jesus*. (29) *To this end I also labor*, striving according to His working which works in me mightily._
In all that they did, they ensured that they did not fall into the leaven of the Pharisees.
*Thought to ponder*
```When we are God-centric, we will also relate with people, correctly.```
